Today I wanted to talk to you a bit about what it means to reclaim your confidence and do big things. You know, my tagline. I’ve had a few people ask me about it recently and it made me want to really get into it.

What does it mean? Well, for my clients, it means a rediscovery of themselves. It means remembering their strengths and discovering that they can work through their weaknesses to over come them or reframe them. It’s finding out that they aren’t actually stuck, they are just walking in a fog of uncertainty that they have the power to clear. It’s clearing that fog and taking steps down their path.

It’s the ebb and flow of life. Sometimes we are confident and know exactly where we are going and what we are doing and sometimes we are in the middle of change or life events and we forget our confidence. We get lost. We get uncertain. It’s part of how we grow as people. No one is confident all the time. If you know someone who says they are, they are lying to you or worse to themselves.

Having times of uncertainty and lack of confidence is NOT weakness. It’s reality, its vulnerability, it’s realizing that we need these moments of uncertainty to help guide us back to ourselves. It’s life!  It’s the moment’s before you walk into a new job or out of an old one. It’s becoming a parent. Actually, let’s be honest, parenting. period. is uncertainty and waves of lack of confidence. It’s knowing you need to make a change but not being sure which way to turn. It’s having life throw a curve ball at you that makes you question everything about yourself. It’s grief. It’s break ups. It’s divorce. It’s new relationships and first kisses and “who says I love you first.” It’s trying new things and working on new skills. It’s learning a new computer program or figuring out if you should slide your credit card or use the chip reader at check out. (No seriously, can we collectively decide? chip or slide??! argh!)

There are so many moments in life that lead to uncertainty which lets us feel less confident. My goal as a coach is to help my clients weed through all that uncertainty and get back to seeing themselves again. It’s remembering who they are, what they value, and why they want what they want. That is how they reclaim their confidence. That is how they are able to do the big things they want to do because they have the tools to keep going in the uncertain times. They know how to get back to their confidence.

That is what I mean when I say reclaim your confidence and do big things. You never lost your confidence, it’s just been hidden under the weight of life. Life is change and uncertainty but we don’t’ have to walk around in it forever. I found coaching during one of the least confident times in my life and it changed me forever. I gained knowledge and tools to help me work through those uncertain times so I can find my way back to confident faster. I gained self-knowledge on how I operate in uncertainty and what brings me back to myself. Now when I have moments of lack of confidence, I go back to those tools and work through it. I grow, change & find my confidence again.

How do you reclaim your confidence?  what does that mean to you?
